Core Activities
The Department of Geomatics Engineering currently offers undergraduate and graduate programs to about 280 (about 160 undergrad and 120 grad) full and part-time students. The undergraduate students have the opportunity to take two of the SSE specializations - the biomedical or environmental specializations. The undergraduate program is fully accredited through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) and the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS). Research funding in the Department of Geomatics Engineering is approximately at $5M per year with about 25% of the funding coming from industry. Technology commercialization is also active within the Department of Geomatics Engineering, through patenting and licensing of software.

- Co-operating with government, business, industry, the professions, and the general community, to apply new knowledge, prepare its students for fulfilling careers, and improve the quality of life through leading-edge education and research.
- Providing an enabling environment through which the graduates of the department will be able to develop strong analytical, problem-solving, societal awareness and critical thinking abilities; and
- Providing accredited undergraduate programs in Geomatics Engineering which satisfy the requirements of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS), and other specializations for outstanding practice of their profession.
